July 8—Protection

The word for today is protection.

“After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: ‘Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward’” (Gen. 15:1).

“The Lord said to Joshua, ‘Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you’” (Josh. 10:8).

“All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands” (1 Sam. 17:47).

“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways” (Ps. 91:11).

“I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety” (Ps. 4:8).

“But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield”
(Ps. 5:11-12).

“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?”
(Ps. 27:1).

“‘No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,’ declares the Lord” (Isa. 54:17).

Prayer: Lord, what peace prevails when I think of Jesus’ words on the night He was arrested: “He will at once put at my disposal more than 12 legions [7,200] of angels.”
